Complete hydraulic system for a large-scale bearing test rig in the wind power industry

For a large bearing test rig for the wind power industry, HAINZL is supplying the entire complete hydraulic system including radial and axial cylinders, hydraulic and lubrication units, all system piping as well as assembly, installation and commissioning on site at the end customer's premises.

The development test bench tests bearings with a diameter of up to 6 meters under real operating conditions. A total of 64 HAINZL cylinders including working hydraulics simulate the wind forces that act on the bearings during several years of continuous operation. This means that the loads on the bearings over several years can be tested within a few weeks, with the aim of improving their service life through the knowledge gained and corresponding adjustments to the bearing.

The hydraulic system is used to control the cylinders. The control pressure for the servo valves is applied by a separate control pressure pump. Ultra-fine filtration was used here to protect the sensitive components of the servo valves. The high-pressure pumps are automatically connected to the load unit by means of electric valves. With an impressive drive and cooling capacity as well as fully comprehensive delivery and commissioning on site, this system offers all the necessary components to test and further develop the stability of large bearings under real conditions.

Technical data

  • Drive power: 2.25 megawatts
  • Installed cooling capacity: 2760 kW
  • Tank capacity: 30,000 liters
  • Modular system: In expansion stage 2, three additional pump units (450 kW each) can be retrofitted.
