Making industry attractive to young people - that is the aim of the WIDI project. Together with the Europagymnasium Auhof from Linz HAINZL Industriesysteme participated in the project "Werken in der Industrie" (WIDI). The projects were presented at a final presentation on 8th May in Welios in Wels. The result is impressive: A self-developed pinball machine, which is now available to the pupils in the school's break room.
The project was started two years ago by the Upper Austrian Federation of Industry and the Upper Austrian Directorate of Education to give young people from the secondary schools an insight into the world of technology. HAINZL Industriesysteme invited 24 pupils on several dates. The youths from the 4th grade lower school of the Europagymnasium first received a detailed company presentation including an extensive look behind the scenes and a short technical lesson. At other appointments on the factory premises, the pupils were able to travel with the apprentices and support them in the work that had to be done, such as turning or milling. The pupils were also challenged in the factory lessons and made various parts of the pinball machine. A small competition spurred the young people on, because only the most beautiful obstacles were integrated into the pinball machine. After the presentation the pinball machine went back to the Europagymnasium Auhof, where it is used by the pupils during the breaks.
